Pop-Up Museum

The Pop-Up Museum is an imaginative display which can be booked by schools to compliment our workshops,  or for events, talks or conferences.  The current theme is Diversity, though a second display on the History of Policing is under development.

Diversity looks at hate crime, the fight of the suffragettes, the evolution of women police officers and the Polish community in Devon.

The wording and concepts of the panels are easy to understand and are suitable for all ages.

Specifications

Pop-Up Museum specificationsThe Pop-Up Museum requires a space approximately 3.5m long x 1.5m deep. Designed to be viewed from the front it should be positioned against a wall with a near-by power supply.

It comes with halogen lighting, a leaflet display stand and an in-built, lockable display case (complete with items from Devon & Cornwall Constabulary's historic collection). We provide extension leads, a timer so that the lights can be set to turn on and off and cable covers.

It should be located in a secure area which can be locked when unattended.  There should always be someone on hand to supervise.

The Pop-Up Museum packs into 4 wheeled crates. It takes two people approximately one hour to erect, one being a member of the Heritage & Learning Resource staff.

Booking the Pop-Up Museum

The Pop-Up Museum can be booked by contacting either Angela Sutton-Vane or Kirsty Woods, or by using the on-line booking form.

It can be booked for one day or up to one week.  We will arrange delivery and collection.  A member of the Heritage & Learning Resource staff will supervise installation, but venues will need to provide at least one additional person to help assemble the stand.

Because the Heritage & Learning Resource is working towards becoming a charity and runs on a very limited budget we do need to make a small charge for this service.

The Pop-Up Museum is part of Driving Heritage - a Heritage Lottery funded project devised to take the collections of Devon & Cornwall Constabulary out into the community. The Diversity panels have been funded by Museums Libraries & Archives South West with additional sponsorship from Nimlok.
