Respect
Key Stage 2
This workshop focuses on Social and Moral Education and addresses issues of diversity, prejudice and stereotyping. These subjects are particularly beneficial for Year 6 children facing the transition from Primary to Secondary education, helping them to make informed decisions about being open and adaptable to others.
The workshop links into National Curriculum subjects of Citizenship and PSHE, as well as the new government initiative RESPECT and gives pupils the opportunity to create images of faces based on preconceived ideas. As well as respect for people, the workshop tackles issues of respect for property and heritage and, in addition, looks at ASBO’s and vandalism.
National Curriculum: Citizenship and PSHE
Respect covers children's rights, conflict resolution, human rights, crime, the legal system and the role of the police.
